About the event

Join us for the Sixth edition of the Building Digital Twin International Congress (BDTIC6) in Brussels May 2026.

Hosted by the Building Digital Twin Association (BDTA) in collaboration with the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP) this three-day event is designed for industry leaders and innovators. 

The BDTIC is a premier networking and knowledge-sharing platform, aiming to unite a diverse spectrum of professionals: senior and postdoctoral researchers from academia, industry experts, private and public investors, technology specialists from public administrations, and policymakers. Together, these stakeholders will drive forward crucial technological advancements and sustainable development initiatives across Europe.

Event Highlights

The Congress will run from May 26 to May 28, primarily at Thon Hotel Bristol Stéphanie.

  • May 26-27: The event begins with the ECTP Congress, culminating in a joint networking cocktail on the evening of the 27th.
  • May 27 (Afternoon): The BDTA program launches with specialized workshops at the FARI – AI for the Common Good Institute Brussels.
  • May 28: The BDTIC takes center stage at the Thon Hotel in the morning, followed by in-depth parallel workshops in the afternoon.

In the morning, our Executive Program with leading keynote speakers will provide a status of the digitization process within the construction industry. Demonstrations and presentations on advancements in scientific research will be showcased.

    • 09:00 – 11:30: Session 1: Using DBPs + DPPs as enablers of Digital Twins in the Built Environment
    • 11:30 – 13:30: Session 2: Vertical Aggregation: Pushing the boundaries of ADTw
  • 13:30 – 15:00: Networking Lunch
  • 15:00 – 17:30 (Aprox.): More Parallel Workshops

Challenges related to Civil Infrastructure Digital Twins, Building Digital Permits, Ontologies, Mathematical Simulation and Ethics will be addressed. Digital Twin use cases will be shared and European R&D projects in this field will be highlighted.

Afternoon of May 27, 2026, 15:00 – 17:30

  • Workshop: EU BIM Task Group (EUBTG) (led by Chair Milena Feustel (Germany) and supported by Dmitrijs Kots (Latvia) as Co-chair). The EUBTG is a pan-European initiative co-funded by the European Commission. It acts as an advisory body to help public clients and policymakers across Europe implement Building Information Modelling (BIM). It works closely with the European Commission’s DG GROW (Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs), specifically the Construction Unit.
  • Workshop: WG Digital Building Permits – Towards the creation of a new EU Working Group for the standardisation of Digital Building Permits (led by Pablo Vicente Legazpi – Building Digital Twin Association)
  • Workshop: Digital Building Permits – Case study of 5 Dutch Cities (led by Siham El Yamani – UrbanIQ) 
  • Workshop: Ontologies for Building Digital Twins (led by Bram Bazuin – Semmtech)

  • Workshop: The Hycool-IT EU Project, (Grant Agreement Number: 101138623), Simbots, real-time simulation in data centers (led by Pablo Vicente Legazpi – Building Digital Twin Association)
  • Workshop: The DYMAN project (Grant Agreement No. 101161930) is part of this strategic portfolio, which brings together several EU-funded projects to explore technical and scientific synergies in cooling technologies                
  • Workshop: PROBONO EU Project, (Grant Agreement Number: 101037075), ARV (Grant Agreement Number: 101036723) and oPEN Lab (Grant Agreement Number: 101037080) (Led by Edgar Valverde de PNO Innovations). Their shared mission under the European Green Deal is to decarbonize the European building stock by creating high-impact, sustainable urban districts
  • Workshop: FOCAL: (Grant Agreement Number: 101138407), AI4PEX: (Grant Agreement Number: 101138379), EXPECT: (Grant Agreement Number: 101138382).Are sister projects funded under the same Horizon Europe call (HORIZON-CL5-2023-D4-01-05), specifically focused on the planning and acceleration of Positive Energy Districts (PEDs)

Plane

Brussels Airport is located in the municipality of Zaventem, about 12-14 kilometers (7.5-8.7 miles) northeast of Brussels, Belgium. It is also known as Brussels-National Airport or Zaventem Airport

Train

The train station is located directly beneath the main terminal. Direct trains connect the airport to Brussels Central, North, and Midi stations, as well as other Belgian cities.

Bus

A bus service runs from the airport to the city center, connecting to other destinations like Antwerp.

Taxi

Taxis are available outside the Arrivals area and can take you to the city center.

Car

The airport is accessible via the A201 motorway and the Brussels Ring Road (R0).
